Parking Plans

6 July 2026

The go-live date for car parking charges at Shearwater and Heaven’s Gate will be Monday 13 July.

Details of the plans to charge a nominal fee were announced by Longleat bosses in February as part of wider investment plans for the areas.

The roads in both areas remain the responsibility of the Highways Authority.

David Leverett, Development Director, said: “We ensured plenty of advance notice that charging was being introduced by highlighting the initiative five months’ ago as part of wider work taking place. Today I can confirm the price will start at £1.50 for an hour.

“We also listened to feedback from horse riders about parking horse boxes at Heaven’s Gate and will be offering a permit scheme for this.

“This will provide access to use one of three spaces on a first come, first served basis with no overnight parking for a monthly fee. Details are available by emailing  accountsgeneral@longleat.co.uk.

Blue badge holders using designated disabled bays will not be charged.
