Outreach Visits
Animal discovery in your classroom
Would your students enjoy seeing some of Longleat’s animal residents in their very own classroom? Well great news, a range of them could be making their way to your school on an Outreach visit.
Whilst Longleat is closed and preparing for new events, our animal keepers will travel to you to deliver an education session that you will never forget, bringing with them a number of different species. Your class will be given the opportunity to see them up close, studying their shape, size, movement as well as learning about their habitat, lifestyle and diet.
Please note our Outreach Sessions for the 2025/26 academic year are now fully booked. We still have availability for 2026/27, so do get in touch and our team will help arrange your session.

Longleat can travel up to 50 minutes only to you; this is strict to protect the welfare of our animals. Please check your distance from us, prior to enquiry at rush hour 9am, our postcode is BA12 7NW.
Do check our online opening dates and times, to ensure that we are closed on your preferred date.
We ask that the classroom/venue is equipped with plenty of space, seating for the children and if preferred the children can sit at their desks whilst the session takes place.
Parking for the keepers' vehicle needs to be available on site or immediately next to your location.
Important notes relating to your policies linked to Keeping children safe in education – statutory guidance for schools and colleges 2025.
Please be aware when booking an outreach visit that you should assume our staff visiting your school are not DBS checked and will need to be supervised on your site in line with your policies to meet the above guidance.
We have a large team that deliver educational activities as a small part of their overall role. This means that some team members do not meet the eligibility criteria for enhanced DBS check as they do sessions infrequently and therefore do not meet the threshold of performing regulated activity.
