Rhinos making a splash
29 May 2026
Showers and mud are on the menu for some of Longleat’s residents as hot temperatures dominated the Estate.
The Park’s crash of rhino enjoyed mud baths and showers to cool off and protect their skin from the sun and high temperatures.
Ian Turner, Senior Keeper, said “While rhinos have thick and leathery skin, it is still very sensitive and the mud acts as sun cream to protect them.
“Our rhinos love a mud bath, as you can see from the video and photographs.”
Guests can see the crash of Southern white rhinos on the Drive-Through Safari, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
