Meg has pups
5 June 2026
This incredible camera footage shows newly born wolf pups. Eyes bright in the dark, the pups can be seen gambolling in the grassy area above their den.
The video captured by keepers has been taken using camera traps so as not to disturb mum Meg who delivered the pups in a den she created in the Safari Park. Sadly, their father, Terry, passed away from natural causes before the new arrivals were born.
The European Wolf pups are now starting to explore their habitat in daylight and can be seen on the Drive-Through Safari – the first to open outside of Africa 60 years ago.
Darren Beasley, head of animal operations, said: “This is a new pack of wolves for Longleat and for Meg to be raising them alone is a brilliant achievement. Meg and Terry had been together three years and we always hoped each breeding season for success, so it is poignant that they have arrived after his passing.
“We believe there are around nine pups, but we are not entering the paddock, other than to deliver food, to give Meg time to settle them but we can see her feeding them and they seem to be thriving.
“It’s fantastic to have this new family arrive during our 60th anniversary year and for guests to be able to see them grow up. The wolves are a protected species and it is another achievement for our focus on conservation of endangered and vulnerable animals.”
The pups are now four weeks old and live with Meg in a paddock to the side of Wolf Wood in the safari.
