Keeping it cool!

19 June 2026

Showers, ice cubes and seeking shade are on the menu as our residents prepare to keep cool ahead of the forecasted heat wave.

Photographs from senior keeper, Ian Turner, show some of the animals taking part in a range of activities to cool off, including the famous troop of macaques which call Monkey Drive-Through home.

They can be seen enjoying a range of ice cubes with frozen fruit and seeds, while a pair of emus enjoy a shower and dip in their pond.

Ian said “With temperatures set to rise over the weekend, keepers across the park are preparing enrichment for our animals to help keep them cool.

“We’re likely to see lots of animals in their ponds, showers and frozen treats, as well as them seeking shade in their habitats."
