A first look at Legendary Worlds

This visual shows a giant blue whale leaping and will be one of the breathtaking centerpieces of The Festival of Light.

The early peek at the lanterns comes five months before Christmas and shows a mockup of the whale which will appear to swim overheard as guests walk on foot on a seabed.

The feature is part of the lost city of Atlantis, reimagined in lantern form and the photographs also show the dramatic entrance.

Also shared is a glimpse of a Kraken, a huge tentacled creature, said to pull ships below the water through deadly whirlpools. 

The theme of this year’s showcase is Legendary Worlds and promises to be an extraordinary experience.

Longleat was the first to introduce a lantern trail in Europe 12 years ago and this year guests can explore various mythical worlds and legends.

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations, said: “These pictures give an early glimpse of the scale of the lanterns which will be on display bringing legendary worlds to life and creating a magical experience for guests.

“As well as Atlantis, visitors will be able to see the mighty Thor as he battles the World Serpent, Knights of the Round Table, giants, dragons, forest fairies and so much more.”

“Running from 7 November to 10 January, it will be a Christmas celebration to remember forever.”

Also included is The Enchanted Christmas Tree Show, seasonal market huts and a light show in front of Longleat House.

There’s also an add-on Santa Train transporting families to the North Pole to make their festive wishes.
