From the majestic to the mischievous, the cute to the colossal,
the sleek to the stripy, and the tallest to the smallest… Enjoy
incredibly close encounters with some of the world’s most
amazing animals in our drive through Safari Park.
See how your car
measures up to giraffe, mind the zebras crossing, remember that the
rhinos have right of way, watch out for the wolves and beware of
our meddling monkeys… there is so much to look
out for in this amazing world of animals!
In
1966, Longleat caused a revolution in the world of zoological collections
by becoming the first location outside Africa to open a drive-through
Safari Park.
Despite the understandable initial concerns of locals
with regard to the introduction of lions to Wiltshire, the Safari
Park concept has been a great success and Longleat’s ground-breaking
innovation has been repeated at wildlife collections all over the
world.
Some 40 years later this unique way of showing animals in
their natural surroundings still delights and amazes hundreds of
thousands of visitors to Longleat each year.
The Monkey Jungle will be closed until further notice.
Longleat is very proud to be associated with the Tusk Trust charity and have worked closely together for several years to perform critical in-situ conservation projects in Africa. Tusk Trust is a dynamic UK based African Wildlife Trust, with over 17 years experience of conserving wildlife, promoting education and supporting community development programmes across Africa.
