Old Joe's MineOld Joes Mine

A ‘subterranean’ adventure which sends visitors batty!

A colony of free-flying Egyptian fruit bats is the star attraction of ‘Old Joe's Mine’ a subterranean adventure which allows the public an opportunity to walk in amongst the bats.

Bats in Old Joe's MineVisitors enter a disused gold mine and try to find a series of clues in order to discover what has happened to Old Joe and his missing gold.

Low-level lighting, sound effects and fun features - including a skeleton, feely boxes and a variety of creepy-crawlies - all add to the experience. A member of staff is in the area at all times explaining the bats’ behaviour and giving visitors background on where they come from and what they eat.

This combination of adventure trail and live animal exhibits seems to really appeal to people - particularly those with young families!
